Noy-Shwan-Stine Castle

We watched 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" with the boys recently for Family night. It was then that I decided that one of our destinations in Germany would be Neuschwanstein Castle. Walt Disney used this palace as inspiration for his Disneyland sleeping beauty castle. It certainly is the stuff of dreams come true.

Rothenburg

Gorgeous Medieval Village. I was excited to visit here and it was all I had hoped for and more.I wished our boys could have been there with us.They would have loved exploring around the village walls, torture museum and watchtowers.

Heidelberg castle

Heidleberg

Once the show was done and dusted we had an opportunity to have a look around Germany. Our first stop was Heidelberg. Loved it.

Cologne Apartment

We needed a kitchen to prepare the food for the demonstrations and cooking we would be doing at Spoga so this year we rented an apartment about 15 minutes from Cologne city centre. It was perfect. I Loved seeing the star constellations of the northern hemisphere night sky from the windows in the loft.

Cologne DOM

Twas nice to venture into the city centre and have dinner at a small mediterranean style restaurant we enjoyed last year. The Dom is majestic and there was a beautiful choir signing inside. It bought peace to out weary souls. We came straight from our first day of the show.We had been setting up for 2 days before the show and so this was our first chance to visit the DOM. It was also photo time and some random hippy thought he would jump in a photo with Tony and I.He was probably trying to pick pocket us at the same time now that I think of it.

SPOGA Cologne 2013

SPOGA is a HUGE outdoor furniture/cooking expo in Cologne,Germany.Think -daily workout walking from hall 1 to hall 10 and thats without venturing into SPOGA horse which runs at the same time. This year Tony wanted to have the woodfired ovens churning out pizzas for everyone to sample.Thats why I had to tag along.I cooked pizzas all day for 3 days :)(well "all day" is a slight exaggeration but it was constant nonetheless) It was hard work for us all but worth it.
